Art & Design: Reed + Rader Present Cretaceous Returns Exhibit in London

Digital art aficionados Pamela Reed + Matthew Rader are launching their first solo U.K show next week, transforming the 18 Hewett Street gallery space into a digital land before time.

Cretaceous Returns will comprise animated GIF’s of prehistoric dinosaurs, handmade paper foliage, and video projections setting the scene for a large, free-standing dinosaur. To complete this Triassic period and fully immersive odyssey, visitors will be given headphones and invited to dance along with these music hungry characters.

Widely known for creating animated GIF art for publications including Dazed and Confused, Another, and V Magazine, Reed + Rader want Cretaceous Returns to take visitors on an adventure back to dinosaur times. “We want you to enter and explore a tropical jungle of tall grass and foliage, GIF animations, a video of colorful dinosaurs dancing to dubstep, and a side-scrolling video game adventure.”

For the opening night of this art spectacular, Bosco and Bee will be serving delicious wood-fired pizzas, honoring Reed + Rader’s brilliant Pizza Machine commission for the Art Hack Day event in Brooklyn earlier this year. In addition, Protein will be hosting a week of events, including a new forum on Digital Art.

The show will open with a private viewing on November 8th at 18 Hewett Street, London. RVSP required at rsvp@proteinos.com. – Samantha Fox
