New Media: Oscar Niemeyer in 3D for Visionaire magazine

Monthly style publication Visionaire, is paying tribute to Oscar Neiyemer in a three-dimensional, photography spread for their forthcoming issue Visionaire RIO 62, inspired by Rio de Janeiro.

Capturing some of the architect’s most iconic buildings on camera, photographer Vicente de Paulo has turned these photographs into anaglyphs, making them appear as three-dimensional to a viewer wearing a pair of 3D glasses.

Commissioned by Paddle8 – an online art community, more recently featured in our New Art Venues report – issue 62 is due for release in the early autumn, to coincide with Sao Paolo’s 30th Biennial.  In addition, 200 slides and a stereoscope in its own carrying case will accompany the magazine.  You can see more from the project online.

This emerging “acid modernist” design aesthetic, inspired by South American ancient primitive cultures, is explored in our Forecast for SS/14, Eden.
