Over the summer Stylesight blogged about an upcoming Polaroid and Lady Gaga collaboration. Finally, at the Consumer Electronics Tradeshow in Vegas, Gaga herself unveiled the fruits of her labor with her “Grey Label” line of gadgets.
As Polaroid’s Creative Director Gaga hoped to “bring my vision and love of fashion, technology and obsession with the future into all of my work with Polaroid.” This is clear with the unusual GL20 camera glasses, which take and display photos on the exterior of the lenses via LED screens and include a USB earpiece which allows images to be sent to a wireless printer via Bluetooth technology.
With an eye to the future, and a nod to Polaroid’s past, the company also unveiled The GL30 camera which looks a lot like Polaroid’s past prototypes and is able to take and print photos, and save photos digitally. The company also revealed a new GL10 Instant Mobile Printer, which uses ZINK Zero Ink Technology and can print 3 x 4 inch photographs in 40 seconds. The printer works with the special Zink paper, which is impregnated with cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals. The dyes appear clear on the paper, until heated by the printer, much like old Polaroid photos.
All Polaroid Grey Label products will be available later this year.
