As part of CREATE 2011 festival (see our recent Folly for a Flyover blogpost), the temporary artwork will comprise 100 bicycle bells personally collected or donated by members of the community, and will be mounted in clusters and solitary under bridges and along the canal side of the infamous Bow Church.
Viewtube, the cultural community hub located near the Olympic Park, will provide a downloadable pocket navigation map via its website so that cyclists and walkers can follow the route and ring the bells “awakening this mostly quiet route with ringing and laughter,” notes Priest.
The Bow Bells art piece will be on show from June 25th until July 25th, 2011, then taken down and ridden over to St Mary-le-Bow to celebrate its 700th anniversary.
