In their third season, the design duo Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi paid tribute to the mid-century glory days of Roman couture, with an homage to Italian designers like Roberto Capucci (who was called “the Givenchy of Rome”), Pino Lancetti and Andrea Odicini. The collection borrowed couture elements like big ruffles, bubble silhouettes, rich floral brocades, gold lamé and delicate sheers, along with safari influences like flap pockets and epaulets. Hand-stitched beading and sequins embellished dresses and skirts; half-ball buttons called attention to perfectly tailored, close-fitting jackets. An olive-drab corseted dress was fashioned into a soft bow at the hemline, somehow mixing utility with luxury, and structure with softness.
