New York: Antonio Azzuolo is usually known for collections full of updated classics and a colorful preppy vibe, but for F/W 10, he sited the classic 1969 movie Midnight Cowboy as his inspiration, leaving us with an intriguing collection full of Western influences mixed with East Coast tradition. Fair Isle motifs were a strong point of the assortment, placing a horse where one would normally expect to see snow flakes or a moose. A full denim suit (with denim shirt layered underneath) was lightened by a white contrast collar, and was a great example of how acceptable head-to-toe denim has become — the look was anything but “cowboy tuxedo”. And when was the last time you saw a cowboy layering bemudas over man leggings? Azzuolo has demonstrated that he knows how to hit the right note with trend-right themes like casual-formal and modern-classic, so perhaps a fusion of Wild West-Ivy League is the next big thing.
