NEW GREATEST HITS
Paris: Anne Valérie Hash’s latest collection seemed to be a reprise of her past few shows. She took an aspect from each – the jumpsuits she has been working with for several seasons, the iridescent organza from S/S 10, and the multicolored sequins from her most recent couture collection – and re-imagined them for Fall. The jumpsuits were roomy and relaxed, but sleek charmeuse gave them a sense of luxury. Organza was used for gathered tops in much the same way as for spring, but the fabric was pressed into accordion pleats for skirts and dresses that looked new and interesting. The sequins took on a more understated feeling than when used for the tailored couture pieces, adding low-key glam to slouchy tees and buttonless jackets. Layered pants were a notable new element for Hash. Roomy menswear trousers were chopped off below the knee revealing slimmer leggings, often in a contrasting fabric. While the idea of recycling past looks at first seemed like an odd idea for a forward-thinking designer like Hash, the results provided something new and helped to solidify her laid-back yet luxe aesthetic.
