GRANNY TAKES A TRIP
New York: Influences ranging from textile designer Alexander Girard and the go-go girls on Shindig! to Elizabeth Taylor’s caftans in the 70s resulted in an extra-flamboyant collection from Anna Sui this season. Crafty details and retro motifs decorated Mod silhouettes, the former providing Sui’s trademark element of Folk. Peter Pan-collared frocks, bright opaque tights and crocheted coatigans conjured London’s Carnaby Street in the 60s, and were complemented by round eyewear and retro beauty looks. —Whitney Kessler
