New York: Anna Sui’s S/S 11 collection marks her label’s 20th anniversary, two steady decades in which she has maintained her vision and youthful-thinking fans, season after season. A parade of her hits, like mini dresses and a riot of mixed prints, were viewed through the lens of a pioneer woman transplanted to California in the 60s. Florals abutted oversize bedspread crochet, and Native American necklaces added a crafty, folk-art touch. Working primarily in a faded, sun-worn palette comprised of bleached chambray, ghostly lavender and distressed tan, Sui also showed casual evening pieces via breezily flirtatious black macramé dresses featuring a healthy dose of fringe. Juniors will find plenty to covet come spring, layering these vintage updates for a personalized yet laid-back look.
