Anglomania in Germany: Berlin Fashion Week

In an ideal world, Vivienne Westwood would be my eccentric, indulgent aunt who showers me with presents and encourages me to get up to no good. But she’s not, so I guess I’ll have to settle for ogling/gently poking fun at her latest British inspired Anglomania collection, which she presented as part of Berlin’s recent Fashion Week.

Washerwoman chic. I can just hear this model calling me ‘Gov’ness’ and asking to do my laundry.

Is it wrong that upon seeing this, my first thought was, “Perfect Wedding Dress?”

Lady Viv cares not for the rules of fashion. Stripes and dots live in gigantic harmony.

It’s Katherine Hepburn, from The Future!

Is she holding a pretzel? Hmm, I think so. She totally is! Now eat some of it, you skinny thing. That fake bite doesn’t count.

Other highlights included the amazingly named Sisi Wasabi, whom I imagine will soon outgrow Berlin Fashion Week.

On the other side of the name spectrum was the folk-kitschy label Smeilinener, whose whimsical designs just made me so damn happy.

Aside from an Irina sighting and folded down overalls circa 1992, the Dassler By Puma show was hardly dazzling, though I would take one of those high waist skirts off their hands.

i agree, that although not incredibly original, sisi wasabi should soon outgrow berlin fashion week. her stuff is sellable, just needs to expose herself to a wide range.

cuz honestly, if it weren’t for you, who’d be looking at berlin fashion week?

i think it’s fine that you thought “perfect wedding dress” bc I seriously thought “perfect birthday dress!!!”

That girl takes pretzel bites like you drink cranberry juice.

The Berlin models look so serious… I mean, compare them to the girls who do Chanel. They’re like fem-bots. And what is the deal with the pretzel anyway? I think I’ve seen an actual German eat a pretzel just once ever…

  • washerwoman chic! like it.
