Milan: Italian designer Angelo Marani has a reputation for proficiency with prints and patterns, a talent he put on full display for S/S 13 with a broad exploration of head-to-toe motifs. A mythical jungle was the source of inspiration, a location which led Mirani to lush mirrored landscapes, tribal intarsia knits and cartoonish leopard spots as well as mosaic snake graphics and bright orchids. In deference to the florid patterns silhouettes were simple, comprised of slim matched set tunic and legging combos, boxy skirt suits and flirtatious a-line dresses and minis. Marani established a subtle formality by edging many pieces in black contrast piping, a savvy move which gave structure to this energetic Junior collection.—Nina Stotler
