An exquisite blend of tailoring and tribal elements at Altuzarra

New York: A slim, tailored white suit opened the sleek presentation for Joseph Altuzarra’s Resort 2016, but the minimal tailoring stopped there The silhouette was slim and tailored, yes, but the subtle curves accentuating the body were the canvas from which Altuzarra’s creative statement unfurled – “I was really interested in the idea of color and texture,” said Joseph Altuzarra. There were brightly printed sheaths and dresses boldly colour blocked in suede and leather stripes, others were created from colourful ikat prints with contrasting pleated panels, but it was the stitched beading, strung in rows creating individual dimensional patterns on finely textured knit dresses, that were show stopping. This beautiful handwork also appeared on a black-and-white woven leather coat with chevron suede pockets and was just as equally covetable. An incredibly chic collection with just the right amount of whimsy. – Lizzy Bowring
