New York:Marc Jacobs’s presentation is a show that stops hearts beating or just for a moment, to forget breathe. As a frosty NYFW came to a close, the most anticipated collection of the season was all and more than we had been waiting for. Jacobs delivered a lineup that exuded both precision and perfection. Darkly Romantic, Victoriana silhouettes were modernized with sumptuous brocades, gowns were covered in sequins and luxurious coats in black and white mink were nothing short of dramatic and elegant. A Sartorial edge infused the perfectly cut jackets that were layered over the most exquisite pleated skirts. Jewels, embroideries, grommets, sequins, the attention to detail was impeccable. “Many things are fine,” Jacobs said. “I don’t want fine. I want, ‘I can’t live without it,’ and then, ‘I’d never be caught dead in it.’ This is the promise of things to come: every beautiful piece, every detail – every woman will covet one piece – from the luxe coats to the silph-like dresses with low slung detail on the hips, the sweaters with sequins, the patchwork furs – and the evening wear – dramatic and elegant. – Lizzy Bowring
