Popular contemporary Danish interiors brand HAY is growing rapidly and has opened its first concept boutique outside of Scandinavia in the bustling center of Amsterdam. Opened at the end of September in 2013, the new HAY store is located between the trendy Nine Streets area and Kalverstraat, one of the main shopping streets in central Amsterdam. A lesson in contemporary chic, the stylish concept store offers the full HAY collection the Scandinavian brand is known for, including furniture, lighting and soft goods. It also houses a coffee shop run by renowned local favorite De Koffie Salon, which serves a mouthwatering selection of artisan espressos as well as traditional “Stroopwafel,” the popular Dutch caramel waffle biscuit. The gallery-like space features wooden floors and bright white walls, perfectly complementing the Danish design brand’s signature use of bright pops of color and candy-colored pastel hues. – Anna Jacobsen
