American sportswear fused with Italian tradition at No.21

Milan: Alessandro Dell’Acqua has always been a master of contrast and this season was no exception – he mastered it to perfection. American sportswear meets Italian tradition was the idea behind this seasons collection. ‘The garments resemble those you can see in the film ‘Senso’ by the Italian director Luchino Visconit’ Dell’Acqua mentioned in a preview. The first looks showcased alluring ensembles of Herringbone tweed mixed with golden brocade bottoms.  From the lamé upholstery fabric to embroidered tapestry knit, portraying 17th century wallpaper fabric, to brushed mohair and petal embellishment the fabrics were wildly tactile. Juxtaposed with plain popline and satin, the fabric arrangements and the play with proportions were masterfully perfected, whilst an asymmetric pleated ruffle dress and sheer organza shirts charmed us with just the right pinch of romantic femininity. – Christa Kaufmann
