So we’re all over-familiar with the American Apparel product. Its piece-dyed denim jackets and stretch twill jeans and shorts have been a roaring success for both their clean and minimal styling and the meticulously directional silhouette. It was one of the first brands to truly champion the girls high-waisted ‘pinup short’ and its stretch colored jeans have many fans far and wide due to that ‘just right’ rise and good recovery stretch.
Well, now they have decided to do denim properly and released a range of all American denim jeans. They say:
Our High-Waist Jean and Cuff Jean Short are made from 100% cotton, 14 oz. denim. A heavyweight, non-stretch jean you can wear and wear to get that perfect, broken-in fit and feel. Hitting just above the belly button, these jeans will suck you in and smooth you out. They should fit nice and tight upon first wear and will loosen up after just a few hours, then return to their original size when washed.
We find it tnteresting that while everyone is clamoring after that perfect, great recovery, hi-stretch jegging fabric, AA discards the rest of the industry and goes for 14oz non-stretch. Always ahead of the trend curve, maybe we should all take notice?
