All in a Ruffle

Milan…Emporio Armani

Relaxed tailoring, cascading ruffles and pleated shorts were key elements for a collection that was on-trend for F/W 09. Using the newest color mix, navy and black, Armani created a new suiting silhouette. The blazer was seen in a “shrunken” shape with belting at the natural waist or in a cropped tuxedo style. Hemlines on pleated black satin shorts were raised, bringing emphasis to the leg. Hosiery became the focal point, with ankle socks, knee highs and sheer stockings keeping the collection youthful. Cascading ruffles, as a design element, brought continuity to the looks when applied to dresses, jackets and coats. Ruffles on one shoulder had a playful feel.
