Taking her inspiration from botanical gardens and tropical hot houses, London-based illustrator and textile designer Alicia Galer combines loose abstract marks, delicate drawings and bold blocks of color to create a contemporary vision of a botanical subject matter.

A fresh series of botanical illustrations is created through minimal compositions, simplistic styles and layers of found paper. Using watercolor, pastels, pens and paint Alicia Galer draws with an intuitive and honest handwriting. Bright colors, expressive marks and bursts of pattern ensure each illustration captures a true sense of freedom and intensity.

We first saw Alicia’s work this summer at New Designers, and we still think there is a lot more to watch out for. Check out the full report here to see more images of her work as well as work from other recent graduates.
