New York: Alexander Wang often explores his more serious side during Pre-Fall, allowing his primary collections to extend into a sportier experimentation. This season the designer maintained that trend, concentrating on suiting and menswear influences, albeit with typically edgy Wang twists. Tailored pieces were boxy with knife pleat detailing and off-kilter layering played a crucial role; leather miniskirts topped oversize burnout knit dresses as well as cropped wool trousers. In addition to the creative office-wear, Wang produced new versions of his body conscious staple, the wrapped jersey dress, this time executed in a bold brick red. The designer also updated his popular accessories, carrying sheer textures through to footwear with mesh ankle boots and stiletto pumps .—Nina Stotler
