New York: One of the most highly anticipated shows during New York Fashion Week, Alexander Wang’s F/W 11 collection was a surprising return to the tough-chic look that characterized his early work. Black leather motorcycle jackets and slim pants were classic Wang, while quilted nylon pieces – including a series of voluminous A-line coats – were a play on the ubiquitous sleeping bag coat, a New York staple. Innovative fabrics, including sweater knits that morphed into satin, elevated the looks. Slashed effects up the sides of simple ribbed sweaters and across luxe satin skirts and tops supported the edgy vibe, and Lurex panels added a bit of sparkle.
