NEW YORK…Alexander Wang has certainly claimed the title of New York’s freshest wunderkind, his S/S 09 show one of the mostly hotly anticipated collections of the week. After a dark F/W 09 season, Wang lightened up a bit with resort, and furthered the exploration of color with these looks. Inspired by the palette of 1980’s Miami, washed out denim chambray, peach, hot pink, turquoise and black provided a feminine foil to sporty items like elongated sleeveless sweatshirts and silk cargo pants. Although some of the styling made the collection appear too aggressive, such as do-rag head coverings, many inspirational pieces such as distressed knitwear, boxy silk jackets and printed jumpsuits will become must-haves for juniors.
