Opening today at the Met’s Costume Institute, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty celebrates the late designer’s many contributions to fashion. Approximately one hundred of the designer’s ensembles and seventy accessories are on display, outlining McQueen’s nineteen year career, which began with his Central Saint Martins postgraduate collection in 1992. Exhibit highlights include McQueen’s “bumster” trouser, kimono jacket, and three-point “origami” frock coat. The exhibit runs until July 31, 2011.
