JAZZ AGE PRINCESS
Milan: For her Pre-Fall presentation Alberta Ferretti was squarely in step with one of the most prevalent recent themes in fashion, the Jazz Age. The designer took a very straight forward look at the roaring twenties via sheer layers with sequin embroidery or fringe trim, fitted cloche hats and cozy cashmere cocoon coats. Flapper dresses formed the foundation of the collection, skimming the body with a straight and slim silhouette, but outerwear was important too. Fur trim added texture and weight to long wool overcoats as well as cropped wrap jackets, and one style featured unusual feathered chinchilla sleeves. Although the collection as a whole was a bit too much of a period piece, Ferretti still provided pretty partywear for customers with a vintage aesthetic. —Nina Stotler
