DREAMY + DIAPHANOUS
Milan: After fall’s more restrained looks, Alberta Ferretti seemed back to her old self for spring, embracing the feminine styles for which she is known. Ferretti claimed to be offering women a fantasy this season, and that fantasy seemed to be about a misty Italian garden. Filmy long dresses and floor-length skirts – some with billowing sleeves – had a bohemian feeling, while lace pieces were soft and sophisticated. Washed out florals climbed up the sheer chiffon looks. Raw linen with unfinished edges added a rustic touch; a culotte suit in the fabric was a highlight. Artisanal crocheted sweaters paired well with the diaphanous pieces, and embroidery gave looks a luxurious feel. Ferretti’s renewed acceptance of her signature style was a positive development, and the floating femme looks felt confident and sincere.
