Akris S/S 2013

Akris S/S 2013

Paris: In commemoration of Akris’s 90th anniversary, creative director Albert Kriemler put out an epic collection of ninety looks. There were the tailored pantsuits, pleated skirts and simple sheaths that its clients have come to expect, but Kriemler also played with transparency. Using a variety of materials, from geometric patterned lace to embroidered tulle to laser-cut leather, the designer presented a range of alluring dresses. Any 90-look show would be in great danger of becoming repetitive, and unfortunately this collection fell into that trap. There were multiple déjà vu moments, as Kriemler presented exact copies of pantsuits, skirts and dresses in different fabrics or colorways. But a strong sense of sophistication carried through, which is sure to please Akris’s many retail clients. –Joanna Manganaro
