Vintage airline graphics are an amazing visual source for color usage, font styling and graphical layout. The Stylesight graphics team recently stumbled across a huge back catalogue of authentic vintage design gems. The site in question was an incredibly researched fan site of Swiss Air and its graphic design archives.
The collection shows a great visual display of 60s and 70s graphic design with bold color use and stark contrast elements featuring heavily. This inspiring collection gives a great insight into the bold use of graphics and typography in Swiss Air’s timetable booklets and old information posters.
For packaging and branding, airline tickets and luggage security straps can be a great resource for the direction of stamped fonts, shapes and graphic layouts. To get that true authentic vintage feel for a new swing ticket or a new branding detail, old airplane tickets and advertising can be a great source of visual inspiration on so many different levels.
