It’s that time of year again. The Active Team at Stylesight is gearing up for the ING New York City Marathon this weekend, watching as running-specific brands unveil new products, launch ad campaigns, and reflect on the past running year. An annual paramount event for the New York Road Runners, this year the foundation remembers running icon Grete Waitz, lost to cancer at the age of 57 this past April. Waitz was an NYRR hometown hero, dominating the marathon with nine wins in a ten-year span, with impressive wins as a silver Olympic medalist and gold World Champion. The running legend will be honored through her adidas sponsorship with three running models in Norwegian-inspired red, dark blue, and orange. The adiZero Adios 2, adiZero Boston 3, and the Supernova Gilde 4 will feature Waitz’s winning marathon times patterned on the mesh uppers, available starting this weekend. All profits will benefit AKTIV Against Cancer, started by Waitz in 2007. Stylesight can’t wait to get a closer look at the Marathon Health and Fitness Expo later this week. –Calvy Click
