Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor died of congestive heart failure today in Los Angeles. Taylor, who was 79 years old, acted in more than fifty films over the seventy-year span of her career. Known for both her acting abilities and striking beauty, the starlet began as a child star and successfully transitioned into a respected adult actress, eventually winning two Academy Awards. Several of her films, like National Velvet, Cleopatra, Butterfield 8 and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof were notable for their costume design, and Taylor, herself will be remembered as a fashion and beauty icon. Her look, which was characterized by feminine curves and piercing, “violet” eyes, was beloved by men and women alike.
