New York: Expressive pieces of individuality and the use of tactile fabrics describe Jonny Johannson latest collection. For Pre-Summer the designer looked at the intelligence of naivety and the toughness of free expression encouraged by cubist Albert Gleises blended with the spray painted pop art of Mario Schifano. The first look of the expressive ensemble was a stiff bonded linen trench, accentuated with exaggerated patched pockets and stand away yoke followed by a cut and splice striped patchwork adaption, underlining an artistic attitude. A downwards spiral striped linen dress with a flashy fuchsia lining enveloped the silhouette with a kinky slash, while a floral print silk camisole with spray paint overlay drew a straight resemblance to Schifano’s art. Each look was paired with a metallic tattoo choker giving the collection a certain nostalgic late 90’s vibe. – Christa Kaufmann
