Acceptable In The 80's…

…and still looking cool today. On Houston Street, some innerwear as outerwear…and a great vintage necklace. While you can take it too far and end up looking tacky, a bit of well-chosen lingerie as outerwear can look quite sophisticated and chic. There’s something very Helmut Newton-esque about confidently and casually wearing a bustier with sheer panels…actually revealing very little while clearly playing the provocateur. Ruffian murdered this vibe for Fall 2009, having their models walk the runway wearing sheer black polka dot bodystockings under all of the clothes. (murdered = wow, they did a great job!) It’s so strange how even the models who were nearly covered from head-to-toe still ended up looking chicly provocative just by flashing glimpses of the bodystocking. xo eddie
