A Walk in the Forest at Costello Tagliapietra

New York: Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra presented a charming collection inspired by the deep forest and their own personal style – ‘we were thinking about ways in which we could reinterpret our own clothes and reflect on our own persons and our own histories’ – said the designers backstage. The heart of the lineup was translated into convincing fluid and layered silhouettes – cropped vests over plaid shirts looked surprisingly sexy and feminine, while their signature silk draped dresses exuded charm and sophistication. There were many more standout pieces – a cape shoulder shirt, high-waisted gaucho trousers, a beautiful tie-front coat – and the list goes on. The colour palette and the forest prints presented in the last few looks were predominantly inspired by the romanticism of the woodlands. The designers re-imagined their own wardrobe without losing the sense of femininity that they are known for. – Diego Sanchez
