New York…Catherine Malandrino
Elsa Schiaparelli’s surrealist influence, inspired by artist such as Dali, made a strong impact on Malandrino for her F/W 09 collection. The outlined visage profile, synonymous with Schiaperelli’s look, found its way from the original artistic motif onto ruched jersey dresses and face-framing outerwear. Shocking pink, veil-covered faces and simple bun hairdos completed the look. Intricate cosmetic-toned knitwear, a signature of Malandrino’s work, was paired with an asymmetrical skirt in the artist’s quintessential pink tone. Outwear looked luxurious in oil slick black crocodile and taupe full collared fur coats. In a simple palette, she rendered a Surrealist dream.
