Wearable technology has been a prevalent topic at CES this year, with many tech companies still struggling to find a balance between wearables that hold aesthetic and style value, while also being functional and easy to wear.
During the packed program of product talks and launches, Chief Executive Officer of Intel, Brian Krzanich announced a slew of forthcoming collaborations between the technology multinational and fashion retailers including Opening Ceremony and Barneys in New York, which will see them create a series of innovative and equally stylish, smart bracelets, available for purchase later this year. According to Ayse Ildeniz, Intel’s Vice President of Business Development and Strategy of New Devices, the collaborations will endeavor to “accelerate wearable technology innovation and create products that both enhance people’s lives and are desirable to wear. It seems there’s still plentiful room for development however; one product that got us rather excited at this year’s show, was CSR’s range of Bluetooth jewelry, which connects with smartphones using very little energy, and enables wearers to change brightness intensity and colors to suit mood and outfit requirements. Teaming up with boutique jewelry company Cellini, the range comprises bracelets and delicate pendant-like necklaces that offer a number of social media functions.
