New York: A popular talking point at this season’s Duckie Brown show was the open layout. Guests were seated facing backstage operations from the model dressings and lineup to the runway walk and exit. This gave a sense of transparency and fluidity that was reflected in the brand’s collection. The lightest of chiffon tops were sheer and loose, coming in a variety of styles from open long and short sleeve button-ups to pull-over funnel neck tops. Although this transparency didn’t continue throughout the collection, the fluidity did in the form of relaxed trousers in both high waisted tapered silhouettes and loose low-rise cuts. Outerwear communicated this same idea with silk bomber jackets that acted more like shirts and unstructured coats. The colours and materials created an infectious sense of romanticism, but also made the lineup look more like a spring collection with the majority of pieces not adaptable to autumn/winter weather. – Matt Feniger
