A New Jazz Era

Fresh off the streets of Berlin, where Stylesight was on hand for their S/S 10 Fashion Week, we spotted modern takes on Roaring Twenties looks. Reminiscent of what you’d find at an underground speakeasy cabaret in Weimar Berlin or at a Great Gatsby party, this trend is also gaining momentum in London and New York, where ‘20s parties and speakeasies are popping up. Over the weekend in London, The Chap Magazine hosted an all-day ‘20s soirée featuring unusual sports like umbrella jousting and a pipe smoker’s relay, with burlesque dancers topping off the evening. New school jazz bands, such as The Gentle Mysics out of London are drawing large crowds. “Dances of Vice” and “Shanghai Mermaid” are hot parties happening every month in Brooklyn, where a ‘20s-inspired dress code is required. Keep your eye out for this emerging new jazz era.
