New York: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez said of their new Proenza Schouler collection that it was, “Our version of American sportswear.” If that’s the case, sportswear has reached a new level. There were rifs on the classics: parkas in laser-cut and color-blocked leather, hand knitted polos with inset leather panels and two-tone leather pants, a deconstructed argyle sweater, not to mention, the tailored coats and jackets in Prince of Wales checks spliced with black wool. The python was a bit of a surprise and felt more at home for fall than a summery spring season. However, the coolest section of the collection were the dresses and skirts that swooshed with fabulous fringing.  Very new preppy, cool and chic. – Lizzy Bowring
