A MAGAZINE by Rodarte

The sister act design duo behind Rodarte, Laura and Kate Mulleavy, are putting on their editor hats for the latest issue of A MAGAZINE. The Autumn ’11 issue of the arty quarterly mag, which debuted in 2004, features perennial Rodarte darlings Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning, clad in the brand’s S/S 12 confections and shot by David Armstrong and Bill Owens, respectively. Other contributors to A MAGAZINE curated by Rodarte include Jay DeFeo, John Baldessari, and Joss Whedon.

Culling inspiration from West Coast flora and fauna (think grizzly bears and the sandy expanses of Santa Cruz’s beaches), A MAGAZINE curated by Rodarte clocks in at 200 pages. Besides the duo’s recent designs, the magazine includes freshly released images and interviews with the Mulleavys. Former curators forthe Belgium-based magazine include style stalwarts like Giambattista Valli, Olivier Theyskens, Riccardo Tisci, Haider Ackermann, Yohji Yamamoto, and Martin Margiela, and Proenza Schouler’s pair of designers.

The mag hits newsstands today, bearing a price tag of €14.50, or approximately $19. USA brick-and-mortar purveyors of A MAGAZINE include Opening Ceremony, MoMA, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, Paul Smith, and Kinokuniya Bookstore in New York; Park Life in San Francisco; and Hennessey & Ingalls Art Books, Book Soup, Skylight Books, and MOCA in the L.A. area. Midwesterners can find the tome at Wexner Center for the Arts on Ohio State University’s campus, and everybody can order the mag online. In January, rapt Rodarte junkies will want to snag a signed copy at select J.Crew locations.
