New York: Peter Copping’s first collection for Oscar de la Renta brought forth both an honorary tribute to the late designer as well as a younger, more modern sensibility. Coppings, who has previously designed for Nina Ricci, understood the feminine, classic, and sophisticated women who wear Oscar de la Renta. Staying true to the brand, the collection started off with tweed suiting, dress coats, furs and delicate heels appropriate for the mature customer and life-long friends of the designer, such as Barbara Walters and Nancy Kissinger, who sat next to his wife. The collection also had a balance of younger designs and silhouettes such as structured mini dresses, exaggerated sweetheart necklines, and sheer lace bodices, for that younger woman, such as Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss, who were also sitting front row. Some eveningwear favorites were a deep aubergine dress worn on Kendall Jenner with black applique, and a wine colored halter neck gown with sheer lace bodice. –Jaclyn Jones
