New York: Michael Kors described his Pre-Fall collection – “from bikinis to boots” and mentioned three women – Baby Jane Holzer, Winona Ryder, and Taylor Swift as his muses. Raison d’etre one would think, but therein lies the answer, Kors cleverly blended the seasons and decades! Following on from his iconic Fall collection, there was indeed a riff on the sixties and the fifties – short slim dresses, a graphic striped lace tunic and pants that looked so easy but incredibly chic as did the double-breasted coats and cropped pants, sweet full skirted dresses and bare, halter necked silhouettes. A patent coat, lined in Mongolian lamb, wrapped around a graphic black and white striped T-dress and, not to mention, the bold coloured ‘tuxedo’ track pants. There was a nod to the all– American sportswear palette of red, blue, white, black, and camel which gave the collection a crisp yet graphic appeal The finale, a vignette of classic evening dresses that were… just lovely.– Lizzy Bowring
