Paris: An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx presented their most formal collection yet for fall. The Belgian husband-and-wife design duo is known for having an avant-garde sensibility, and that was certainly visible here (see the quirky Cousin It hairdos and asymmetrical outerwear). But there were many straightforward pieces in this season’s offering, as well. Tapered trousers, peplum tops, and delicate crepe de chine shirts were approachable and elegant, and the bustier-bodiced evening gowns that appeared throughout were simply enchanting. Baroque-inspired decorative prints and classic paisleys helped to create a traditional, refined feeling. Though the collection was made up of just sixteen looks, each one was strong and confident, proving that the label is still one to look to for a directional yet sophisticated perspective. –Joanna Manganaro
