A Day-to-Day Fairytale at Luisa Beccaria

Milan: “The Pursuit of Love: a Tale of Contradictions for Modern Cinderella’swas the entitlement for Luisa Beccaria’s show – a reference to the British eccentric – Nancy Mitford – and her most famous novel. For this modern day fairy-tale, Beccaria played with these contradictions, blending gauzy dresses with tailored coats and roomy trousers in more masculine fabrics such as loden or tweed- though some as lavishly embellished as couture pieces in folkloric feathers or dainty florals. The silhouettes felt streamlined and reminiscent of the 1940’s; chiffon tea dressed, circle skirts, and fur trimmed finishes gave a nod to a retro-femme look whilst houndstooth culottes paired with a sheer top offered more contemporary styling. Romantic and modern – fit for day-to-day fairy tales. – Anna Ross
