Esteemed skate and activewear designer Michael Leon recently released A Curious Catalogue, a collection of illustrations depicting a fantasy skateboard company. The catalogue, published as part of Le Cabinet de Curiosités by Colette, Paris, features pencil drawings, spin-art wheels, and slalom gemstones inspired by Leon’s skateboard-induced childhood wonder and joy.
Leon is not new to the art world, having had seven solo exhibitions and participated in over 50 group shows. Leon is also a design superstar creating Nike’s Tech Pack, which latter became their high-end Nike Sportswear collection, as well as designing the Nike SB Stefan Janoski pro model and the recent P-Rod collection. He also designed graphics for 90s-favorite New Deal Skateboards, and held a design position at Girl Skateboards and helped Supreme create their first skateboards. In addition to his artwork, he currently owns and designs Stacks skateboards, as well as Group Picture, a marketing, branding, and media company.
