In what is most likely her strongest collection to date Luella Bartley gave birth to the fashion love child of Coco Chanel and Viv Westwood (in her mini-crini period). By adding her own inimitable girly spin, she pulled the whole thing together into a glorious mix of texture and color. “I wanted it to be a proper, ladylike character—but a bit psychedelic,” Bartley said. The first suit out was remarkable, tweed and lace with frills. Spring versions of last season’s mini-prom dresses looked good too. The setting, Hyde Park with a view of the Serpentine added to the sense of English eccentricity.
