New York’s NoLIta (North of Little Italy) neighborhood has just welcomed its first luxury boutique hotel, the 55-room Nolitan Hotel, where guests can experience life as a resident of one of the city’s most exciting and accessible areas, with its high-end boutiques and dining options such as Balthazar, Café Gitane, La Esquina and new neighborhood darlings Torrisi Specialties.
Housed in a modern high-rise with huge glass windows, the spacious ground floor lobby feels more like a chic living room than a hotel, with supple leather couches and shelves stocked with books and decorated with mirrors.
Eight different room types are available, from the standard Neighborhood Room to the super-luxurious Nolitan Suite, with its private living room, freestanding soaking tub, in room iPad and insane views of the skyline courtesy of floor to ceiling windows. All rooms feature 300-thread count sateen bed linens, down comforters and pillows, 37-inch flat screen plasma TVs and rain showers, in addition to the little touches that make all the difference for fashion professionals, like plush robes, iPod stereo speakers and the latest issues of Vogue and GQ. The New York Times is also delivered daily to each guest, because really, what’s homier than reading the morning paper?
Feel even more like a local when you invite friends to join you on the Nolitan’s rooftop, with stunning views of the bustling streets below. From September 5th on, the rooftop is also available for private parties and events. Also available for booking is the Nolitan’s lovely restaurant, ellabess, where chef Troy Unruch’s unique brand of New American cooking is on display at breakfast and dinner (with lunch coming soon).
Take a seat at one of the custom-made oak tables and enjoy New American specialties such as roasted lamb sirloin and peekytoe crab with squash and uni butter, or saddle up to the gleaming white marble bar and enjoy a beer or cocktail from their well-edited list. But don’t let ellabess be your last stop: NoLIta is a hop, skip and a jump from the galleries and nightlife of Chinatown, SoHo and the Lower East Side, so get out there and party like a New Yorker! And don’t worry about staying out too late, as the best part about the already great Nolitan just might be their wonderfully late check-out time of 2 p.m!
