There are the smug few who have completed their Holiday shopping already, but for the rest of us the dilemma remains, how to find something beautifully unique for our loved ones to open come Christmas day. To ease some of that pain, we’ve rounded up the coolest and most unique global holiday markets and retail pop-ups we could find, with artisanal goods that you won’t just find anywhere. We’ve also spotlighted the holiday markets that want to do more than just sell you stuff, these events support female designers, raise money for charity and help the environment, so you can feel really good about racking up a huge bill.

1. Etsy Made Local Christmas Events

Dates: 2-4 December 2016

Location: Various locations across the UK.

Etsy, the online portal for emerging and independent design talent, is adopting a brick and mortar space again this holiday season after the success of last year, so consumers can meet all their favourite sellers in real life and support the next generation of creatives. You’ll get to touch the products and even Instagram them before you buy.

2.Young & Able Holiday Pop-Up

Dates: 8-24 December 2016

Location: 2 Irvington Street, New York, NY 10002

The store is hosting its annual holiday pop-up celebrating 35 women of design. This seasonal curated boutique invites consumers to support local female talent and find a selection of unique goods, from illustrations to eyewear and leather goods. There’s also a host of workshops running from flower arranging to chocolate tasting.

3. Monocle Christmas Market

Dates: 3-4 December 2016

Location:  Midori House, 1 Dorset Street, Marylebone, London. WIU 4EG

Monocle, the magazine, specialises in spotlighting unique designs from international independent retailers, so expect to see the magazine’s curated selection of gift ideas on offer. There’s also going to be a tombola, mulled wine and a Christmas appropriate Spotify playlist. It’s all free, but donations go to a worthy case, the Committee to Protect Journalists.

4. Ethikal Holiday Pop-up Market

Dates: 10-11th December 2016

Location: 1414 Avenue of the Americas (at 58th Street) on the 2nd floor at 1 Hotel Central Park.

Want to feel good while shopping? The Ethikal pop-up has got you covered. The pop-up space has invited a hosts of small brands who are best known for being ethical and eco-conscious, but also heavy on style, aka the perfect balance.

5. HOLY SHIT SHOPPING

Dates: 26 November- 18 December 2016

Location: Cologne, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg

Imagine if your favourite holiday market went on tour? That’s the concept behind Holy Shit Shopping which tours Germany over the holiday season bringing a huge selection of fashion, jewellery, furniture and product design. It’s all about alleviating the stress of the holidays and focusing on having fun while you shop. Much like with the Easy pop-up you get to meet the designers and create a real relationship before you buy, so if the faceless online click and deliver holiday buying rollercoaster is too much, this is the answer.
