It’s the Resort season and the catwalks are catering to the luxury shopper in search of vacation wear for the season ahead. We’ve already had offerings from Chanel (Karl’s Greece themed show in Paris) and up next is Dior (May 11th). In between these luxury house debuts for resort, Prada revealed its resort collection this week in Milan. With retail as a whole leaning towards all things activewear, from high end to high street, it’s no surprise to see these trend influences trickle over to resort wear. Just last September we saw an actual yoga mat on the Maison Margiela S/S17 runway show and then there’s the rise of brands like Yeezy’s line and Rihanna for Puma, plus the rise in high street stores offering fitness wear to their fitspo hungry consumers.
It’s interesting though to see the move hit the resort shows, resort was once the place for evening gowns, and embellished day dresses, along with a hint of summer, through a well-constructed swimsuit. This has now evolved to ensure the resort consumer is just as comfortable (while retaining a chic air about them) as the rest of us.
Here’s 5 gym friendly Prada Resort 2018 pieces that prove comfort is key:
Gym socks and sneakers
Your new Tennis whites
Your new zip up hoodie
Your tracksuit for spin class
One for your next Barre class
