New York: Phillip Lim showed his first collection for men on a runway built of construction beams and concrete, hinting at the urban influence of the clothes. Shin guards, reinforced fabrics, a leather vest and high-shaft boots with buckles were perfect for an urban adventurer who just so happened to be interested in luxury. The leather belts and straps detailing coats made for a strong statement, as did the fabric-blocked suit made up of all the neutrals found in the collection’s color palette. While many of the other New York collections found inspiration in the heritage of the past, Lim looked forward to the future with a strong showing of classics made modern.
