3.1 Philip Lim

New York:
For Fall Phillip Lim focused on his core clientele, a new generation of professional ladies with funds to invest on work-appropriate power pieces. This modern view of femininity was manifested in expertly sculpted jackets, statement sweaters and tailored trousers, while a somber palette of black, white and a range of greys led the eye to the clever use of layering and optic colorblocking. Not everything was straight and serious though, the second half of the looks spoke to the playful girlishness that Lim is known for. Deep jewel tones and a pixelated pattern that enlivened a cozy cowl-neck sweater and a sweeping knit poncho, lent just enough whimsy to straight-shooting collection.   —Shannon Davenport
