Last night the 2013 US Open of Tennis kicked off with a jaw dropping performance by Lenny Kravitz at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens. The stars came out in full-force with everyone from Anna Wintour to newly engaged Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde to take in the action. It’s certainly been an exciting time for us here on the Active Team, as the US Open is probably one of the (if not THE) most favorite events of the year for us.

Over the past week a slew of events leading up to the Open have been taking place. Not to mention a plethorea of stories and features from various publications — case in point with Roger Federer‘s image on the August 25, 2013 cover of  T Magazine. The riviting feature profile of Federer shines a light on both where the acclamained athlete currently sits in the game, but also where the landscape men’s tennis is headed.

The US OPEN, for us from a fashion and trend eye, also translates to seeing what the best tennis players in the world will be wearing on the courts. This year, the sneak peak of gems we’ve been checking out from the likes of Nike, adidas, UNIQLO, adidas by Stella McCartney and Fila boast palettes of peach, pink, salmon, red and crimson for both the men’s and women’s athletes’ kits. This warmer color trend suits well for Federer, Rafa Nadal, Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic, Ana IvanovicAndy Murray and a handful of additional elite players in the tournament. This transition steps away from seasons of bright neons, opening up a fresh perspective for future months ahead.

2013 Fall & US OPEN of Tennis Looks for Men:

We additionally attended the US OPEN at Moyinihan event thrown by NIKE. The party kicked off on Thursday night, August 21st underneath the 34th Street US Postal Office — with everyone taking to ping pong tables where the likes of actress Rosie Perez, downtown darling Vashtie and the man of the honor, Mr. Rafa Nadal were spotted! The recent 2013 Roland Garros Champion was interviewed, took photos with fans and played a few round of table tennis at the event. (Did we say that Rafa was there…yes, Rafa. THE Rafa! Sorry, but we really love Rafa!)

Stay tuned for more US OPEN of Tennis in the next few weeks! We have ample analysis in the pipeline. You’ll know where to catch us next!
