What is widely known as the world’s most prestigious winter polo tournament on snow, the 2013 St. Moritz Polo World Cup went down the weekend before last on the frozen Lake St. Moritz in Switzerland. As the Active Team continues to run and report around the world on the latest trade shows, we had to stop for a moment and shine a light at such a festive event, rich with history and sophistication…
In line with the tournament’s characteristic elite glamour, Ralph Lauren was designated as Team Sponsor and Official Outfitter, a partnership exemplified by its Executive Vice President of Advertising, Marketing and Corporate Communications, David Lauren. In his statement regarding this move which served to “…reinforce the brand’s leadership in major sporting events and our dedication to supporting the game of polo.”
The four competing teams and all on-site staff and volunteers sported the crisp, limited-edition polo, which features the tournament’s crest in addition to those of the renowned Swiss Polo Association and Guards Polo Club. The official, authentic shirt is available in select Ralph Lauren stores in Europe, as well as on its European e-commerce sites and the tournament’s site as well.
Polo enthusiast Michael Bickford, the highest handicapped patron in the tournament, led team Ralph Lauren, backing the brand’s spokes model and polo superstar Nacho Figueras, in his debuting performance with the team.
Hopefully next year we can join in on the festivities. Bravo to Ralph Lauren and the entire Polo team!
